Obituary of Joseph P. Kane

Died peacefully at his home in Fairfax, Virginia, on November 2, 2011. Loving husband of Annette, his wife of 53 years; devoted father of Paula, Stephen, Brian (Olivia Wills) and Christine (Mickey Gamble); doting grandfather of Marie Therese, Cecilia, Virginia and Florence Kane; brother of Mary A. Kane of Ardmore, PA. He was preceded in death by his twin brother John and a sister Pauline Kane. A graduate of Villanova University, he received an MA from the University of Toronto and an LMS from the Institute of Medieval Studies in Toronto. He taught philosophy at Rosemont College and Georgetown University; worked as a research officer at the CIA; and served for 26 years as vice president for legislative affairs of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. In retirement, he was a volunteer teacher of English as a second language. Friends may call on Sunday, November 6 from 2-4 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Rd.,Vienna, VA, where a funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 7. Interment private.
