Obituary of Sidney Andrew Tronic

Sidney Andrew Tronic died peacefully on August 11th at his home in Annandale, VA, after a twenty-two month battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife Deborah Tronic, daughter Sarah Tronic, son Tristan Tronic, mother Lorraine Shirley Tronic, brother Malcolm Tronic, and sisters Glenis and Lesley Tronic. Sid was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 5, 1950. At the age of 7, Sid moved to Madrid, Spain with his family. He lived there until he returned to the United States to attend college. Sid graduated from the University of Massachusetts and went on to earn a law degree (juris doctoris) from Boston University. He had a distinguished thirty-two year career as a civilian with the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense during which he received numerous awards and citations, including the Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He received a Master of Science degree from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Sid was a kind and generous person who deeply loved his family, was a friend and mentor to those with whom he worked, read voraciously, liked to travel, and enjoyed and supported the arts and education. He was a Literacy Council of Northern Virginia volunteer for many years. Memorial contributions are welcome in lieu of flowers.
