Obituary of Allan Swenton

Allan Swenton, son of William A. and June E. Swenton, was born on May 30, 1948. He passed away on November 29, 2019 at the age of 71. He attended Hope Center Sheltered Workshop until it became part of Melwood. Allan loved his day program and never missed a day of work. Allan loved music and played his records every day. He loved to dance as well, he regularly attended the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning dances at Teen Club on Friday nights. He was a distinguished member of the Pinbusters bowling league and has several bowling trophies. Allan’s style of bowling, like his record playing was unique. His singular style applied to everything he did. Allan was a member of St. Phillips the Apostle Church in Camp Springs, MD. He attended every Sunday since its founding and would study the church bulletin for the rest of the week. Allan charmed everyone he met with his disarming honesty and wit. He was a bright, shining light who will be dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to know him. He was pure love and a delightful presence. He is survived by his brother Richard Swenton, his sisters, Nancy Swenton, Trudy Biddle and his beloved sister Carol Swenton. His service will be held on Friday, December 6th at his church, St. Phillip the Apostle Church, 5416 Henderson Way, Camp Springs, MD 20746. Family will receive visitors and friends between 10 and 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Internment at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD immediately following the Mass.
