My condolences on your loss. Doug was a fixture in the field office. He was one of the pillars of experience and knowledge that we all relied on so heavily. I know I was a better supervisor for his guidance and counsel. As others have noted, his impact will reverberate through Diplomatic Security for years to come. May his memory be a blessing.

I’ve been processing Doug’s death since I learned of it. Doug was an incredibly empowering boss and an advocate for growing everyone he came into contact with. Doug was my Section Chief and supported my work to investigate human trafficking. He advocated for me and fought more than one battle to give me the space to work. When it was clear that DS wasn’t a good match for me, he supported me as I moved to a different agency. Doug was so quick to lift up and recognize those around him while minimizing his own contribution.
Doug’s love for his family was at the forefront and his absolute awe for his wife came up frequently. He was so proud of his son and his son’s hard work to graduate high school. He always mentioned that it was his wife’s advocacy for their son that allowed him to navigate the Fairfax County school system and achieve his full potential. He would talk about her relentless efforts to make sure their son was afforded every opportunity any other student had. He would shake his head and smile and say something like, ‘I don’t know how she did it.’
The world needs more Doug Lambs. A humble man who offered his experience and advice while opening (and sometimes kicking in) various doors to allow others to walk through and grow. Doug seemed meek, but he knew how to win some bureaucratic knife fights.
God bless the Lamb family.

Shocked and saddened to hear about Doug's transition. Doug was a huge part of my DS career from orientation to retirement. He was always a professional, candid, honest, and a great guy. Every interaction I've had with him over 20+ years was always positive and fair. Doug was one of the best LEOs around and it was an honor to serve with him. Doug, you will certainly be missed. My heart breaks for your family and friends. Rest well.

My condolences to the Lamb Family. Doug was an honorable man and a steadfast leader and true believer of the profession who embodied all the core values of a law enforcement officer. Doug was one of the last of his generation of law enforcement officers who taught the next generation the value of one's word, maintaining integrity, and doing the right thing in difficult times. Doug was a very proud father and husband who seized every moment to speak about his loved ones with others in the office. A good man, a great friend, and he made everyone who worked with him feel valued and appreciated. He will be missed, but a little part of Doug’s legacy lives in every WFO agent that had the honor to work with him....

My sincere condolences to the Lamb family. Doug was not only a colleague, but a true mentor and friend. Through his guidance, so many opportunities were afforded not only to me, but dozens of DSS agents over the nearly 20 years we worked together. Doug set a standard of professionalism that I doubt many agents will be able to attain. Please know that Doug lives on through all of us he worked with. Thank you Doug for your friendship, support and leadership; you are missed.

I was so saddened when I heard about Doug. I had the privilege to know and work with Doug for over 15yrs at Dunn Loring. He was an amazing supervisor, colleague, and friend. Doug was always honest, a true leader, and always did the right thing. He will be missed, but his memorywill live on with those of us that had the great pleasure to work with him. My heart and prayers go out to Jackie and his sons.
