Louise Roth

Obituary of Louise Roth

In Loving Memory of Louise H. Roth

Family and friends mourn the passing of an extraordinary mother and artist, Louise H. Roth, who died surrounded by family at home at the age of 87. Louise departed peacefully, after waging a fierce war against several health challenges. She leaves behind a gallery of memories as vivid and diverse as the countless artworks she lovingly crafted.

Born in Mamaroneck, NY to Aaron and Bella (Pirosnick) Holman, and sister to the late Rosalind Schiff, Louise was a graduate of Goucher College, class of 1958.  She was a lifelong collaborator in the art of existence, first marrying Marvin (Sam) Brave in 1957. After that marriage ended in divorce, she married James (Jimmy) Roth in 1969. After Jimmy passed away 40 years later, she married Melvin Spaeth, who also passed. Louise was blessed to find tremendous joy in her final years, partnering with James Bryant of Falls Church, VA to create a masterpiece of shared experiences. Louise's artistic touch extended to her role as a nurturing mother to Michael Brave (Kathleen Davis) of Baltimore, Naomi Brave (Clay Larsen) of Montague, MA, Marcie Roth (Donovan Leighton) of Frederick, MD, and Howard Roth (Kate Peters) of Wolcott, CT.

Her grandchildren, Leah Brave (Pierre Bowery), Aaron Brave, Jessica Specht, Dustin Snowadzky (Jessica Justus), Alexander Roth, Nicholas Roth, and great-granddaughter Addison Specht, became her artistic collaborators, each contributing their own unique brushstrokes to the family portrait. A voracious reader and Mah Jong player, Louise loved to paint, knit, crochet and she was known for her volunteerism with deaf children and political campaigns. She reveled in the kaleidoscope of life, cherishing the moments that added depth and richness.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Louise will take place on January 13, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Advent Funeral Home, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22046 . Friends and family are invited to join, which will include a visitation from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a Celebration and Remembrance from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Let's honor her memory by embracing the creativity, passion, and love that she infused into every stroke of her life's canvas. In lieu of traditional tributes, the family invites you to support organizations Louise favored. These include Self Help for Hard of Hearing People (SHHH) (click here to donate) and the World Institute on Disability (click here to donate).

The family expresses gratitude for your presence and encourages you to share your favorite memories of Louise. Her legacy lives on as a gallery of inspiration and a testament to a life beautifully lived. May her colors forever brighten our hearts.
